GALVANIZED IRON (G.I.) PIPE FITTINGS
Galvanized iron (GI) pipes are categorized into three classes based on their weight: light (Class A), medium (Class B), and heavy (Class C). The pipes are marked with different colours to identify their class: yellow for Class A, blue for Class B, and red for Class C. The pipes also differ in the thickness of the sheet used to make them, which affects the pressure and temperature loads they can withstand:
- Class A: These pipes have the thinnest sheet and can withstand the lowest pressure and temperature loads.
- Class B: These pipes have a medium gauge and can withstand higher pressure and temperature loads, up to 30 bar.
- Class C: These pipes are the heaviest and have the thickest sheet.
GI pipes are steel pipes coated with zinc to protect them from corrosion. They are often used to convey raw and treated water in rural areas, and are also durable, easy to handle, and can withstand extreme temperatures
